Greene County Combined Health District
Announces Pandemic Flu Briefing for the Greene County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)
(XENIA, OH) A briefing on public health
pandemic preparedness will be conducted at the Menapace Health Education Center
Auditorium at the Greene Memorial Hospital, 1141 Monroe Dr., Xenia, on Friday,
April 7, 2006 and repeated on Saturday, April 29, 2006. The time will be 10:00
a.m. to 12:00 noon on both days. This briefing is for Medical Reserve Corps
members, CERT volunteers and other interested citizens. No registration is
required.
The Greene County Combined Health District has
been working closely with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to strengthen
surveillance systems that detect outbreaks of influenza that might cause a
pandemic. The effects of a pandemic can be lessened if preparations are made
ahead of time. Planning and preparation information and checklists are being
prepared for various sectors of society, including information for individuals
and families. MRC volunteers have agreed to prepare for and assist with public
health emergencies. These volunteers know that their efforts will help improve
the lives of those they are serving.
The Greene County MRC volunteers include
medical professionals and non-medical persons. The Greene County MRC is a
volunteer organization that is coordinated by the Greene County Combined Health
District (GCCHD) in partnership with the Greene County Emergency Management
Agency. The role of the MRC is to provide medical support to the community
during emergencies.
For more information, please
