Greene County Combined health District Offers
Dining with Diabetes Series for Minority Health Month 2006
(XENIA, OH) The Greene
County Combined Health District, in observance of Minority Health Month in
April, will sponsor two of the three-class series: Dining with Diabetes.
The Dining with Diabetes program is funded by the Ohio Commission on
Minority Health and is offered in collaboration with the OSU Extension Office.
The series is free and open to the public.
It is designed to give people with diabetes information to help them make
healthy food choices, cook healthy versions of familiar foods that are easy to
prepare and teach cooking techniques using healthy ingredients.
The three-class series is
scheduled at two locations: Session 1: Saturdays, April 1st, 8th and
22nd at the United AME Church, 286 E. Church Street, Xenia, from
10:00 a.m. to noon; Session 2: Tuesdays, April 4th, 11th,
and 25th at the OSU Extension office, 100 Fairground Rd., Xenia, from
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Each class is two hours and
includes instruction, cooking demonstrations, healthy food tastings and exercise
demonstrations. Each participant will receive a free cookbook, a notebook
containing nutritional information and will be eligible to win a door prize.
